A question for hairstylist? (experts please)?

I want to dye my hair to cover up some greys, and i'm young i feel bad for having them. anyways i heard that if you dye your hair more greys will come out because of alcohol? is this true, i want to permanently cover up my greys for good.

also if you do dye it, does the color fade out after a while and have to re-dye it. ect. i don't know a single thing about dying and so thats why i'm asking you. please only serious answers.

thank you, alex/

There is not yet a permanent dye that doesn't need to be retouched, but they have been trying for years to create one. The best thing for a young man to do to resist grey is to go blonde with platinum hi lights. The platinum hi lites will blend with the grey, so basically the grey will disappear!

I would suggest going to a professional hair dresser to get color. Color does fade after a couple months so you just have to keep it up. And the alcohol thing is all lies.

I'm not am actaul expert, sorry. But I'm taking cosmo. Plus I have dyied my hair multiple times.

I really doubt, it will give you more greys, that just seems like one of those strange myths. About it fading-it will if you dye it really dark or red, however there are tons of different shampoos out there to keep you're colour good. I have dyied my hair dark brown for a long time and I use the special colouring shampoo and I have yet to re-dye my hair because of fading.

The roots do grow back. Once you start to color your hair your going to have to do it once a month. There will be a line of demarcation between the roots and the colored hair. The color will fade, but you just color the roots for the first 15 minutes and the go over the other color for 5 minutes (for your retouch). You don't want to keep going over your hair with color or you will damage your hair. Also hair color is mixed with 20 volume to 40 volume peroxide not alcohol.

Let's start by using the correct term it's "color "your hair you "dye" clothes :) You will never be able to color your hair permanently yes color does fade but also as your hair grows your color grows out meaning it will be more towards the ends of your hair rather than towards the scalp. That's why you have to get your color touched up as your hair grows. A permanent color only means that it won't shampoo out from one shampoo to another as a semi or demi permanent color will. Just make sure if you color your hair that it's a color line for gray hair because some gray's can be resistant and hard to cover. GOOD LUCK
