Has anyone else noticed this guy on Seinfeld?

I have noticed this guy in several episodes of Seinfeld.

I have only seen him actually speak once, but he is in the background in quite a few episodes, almost seems to be an "extra" type of character.

He has red hair with some grey streaks.

Looks to be in his late 50s or early 60s.

As I said, he is usually sitting in the background, or walking through a scene behind the main characters.

I am sure I have seen him in at least 8 or 10 episodes.

The two examples I remember for sure are:

In the episode where Jerry, Newman and Kramer have entrusted an accountant with some money. They begin to think the accountant is a cocaine addict, so they set up a sting. Kramer follows the accountant into a bar. This red-haired character is sitting at the bar opposite Kramer.

The episode where the guy actually speaks is when Kramer is giving his Peterman Reality Tour in an old school bus, and this guy is sitting behind Kramer and wants someone else's snack.

I've never noticed this guy before, but in response to the Superman thing above, it's true. Usually it's a Superman figurine that Jerry has on the shelves against the wall (behind the table). But they did make a point that it be seen in every episode. I will keep an eye out for the red-headed guy.

You could also consider looking up those episodes on imdb.com and see if he's listed (especially for the one where he speaks -- likely he is credited somehow).

I have not noticed that myself but find it very interesting. I will keep an eye out for him. I've also heard a rumor that somewhere in every episode of Seinfeld that Superman appears. Like it might just be a poster in the background, an action figure, a superman telephone, etc. but that he is in every episode. I have seen him in a couple of them but not all that I've watched.

probably someone who works on the show and they throw him in as a extra when they need to

It is not unusual to have the same extras on different episodes of the same show. After all, there are only a limited amount of extras in New York.

Up - up - and away. . .

Not sure if this is the guy you're referring to, but I know there's a tall, blond guy named Norman (don't know his last name) who has been an extra in several episodes. He was Michael Richards' stand-in. If you get the DVD box sets they have all kinds of fun little tidbits like this.
